Oh my goodness! I couldn’t wait for Megan and Logan’s engagement session to arrive because 1) I was going to be meeting another one of my AMAZING 2018 couples and 2) I was going to be visiting Longwood Gardens for the FIRST TIME EVER! I know…I’m a little embarrassed to admit it! To say I was super excited is a definite understatement! The weather was a little windy, but thank goodness for Longwood Gardens’ in-door green houses! They were stunning!!
Megan and Logan were AMAZING and made sure we had plenty of time for their e-session! I was so, so grateful to the two of them because we spent THREE hours together enjoying the gardens (three hours almost didn’t even seem like enough time because we only saw maybe a 1/3 of the entire place!) – AND we got to know each other more!! I loved hearing – in person – how Logan proposed and how these two met in 9th grade!! How sweet?!!?
For me, it felt like I was catching up with friends I hadn’t see for a while! These two are easy going, loving and absolutely complete each other!!
I cannot wait for their wedding next June in Delaware!!! And guess what?!? They are getting married on a LAVENDER FARM!!
When Megan was in 2nd grade her grandmother told her that she’d get married at that specific Lavender Farm one day – her grandmother was right!! Cue the tears!

How They Met
“The story of how we met dates back to 2009 when Logan and Megan were mere freshmen in high school. From day one, they had a natural connection and have remained best friends ever since.
Our high school was a small, private school with small classes and a lot of unique experiences. We sat next to each other in Greek class– because we both chose not to take Spanish. Although we didn’t have the exact same friend group, it was a VERY small school and we quickly became best friends. We even got kicked out into the hallway by the teacher for talking too much.
However, our true relationship took a while to actually begin. In Logan’s words, I had him in the “friend-zone”. Secretly he has always had a special place in my heart. For some reason, we had this insane connection and we were easily our complete selves with each other. I even remember crying to him on a bench one day. I don’t remember why I was crying, but he gave me his jacket and all was right in the world again.
Although Logan had a crush on me all throughout high school, he never made a move until college. In the very beginning we’d go on “dates” but I guess you could say they were unofficial. We both knew, but wouldn’t say anything. Some nights we would just drive around until we found a place to sit and talk– YES, actually talk! Thought all of our conversations, our relationship grew deeper and deeper.
Suddenly, one summer when we were both home from college our relationship really took off. One night, we stayed out until 4 a.m. to watch a meteor shower. I think that’s when we both knew we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together. He planned the whole night, and even brought a blanket for us to lay on to look at the stars. Logan even says “I was too busy looking at her to even notice the shooting stars”. 5 years later (who’s counting?) we were over the moon for each other.”

How He Proposed
“From the day I first started planning the proposal I wanted it to be something special. I was never very good at giving gifts or planning things so I knew it was going to be a challenge. We had already talked about getting married and even gone ring shopping a few times (where she found one she LOVED so it made my job of choosing the ring much easier), so she knew a proposal was coming. But I committed to making it a surprise, because I knew I could make it special for her.
The first thing I needed to figure out was the place. I wanted somewhere I could string lights and decorate, and invite all her closest friends, which kind of ruled out alot of the traditional places. So I decided to plan a surprise proposal party at my house where I could have all her friends and family there to celebrate!
Next I had to choose the day. Now I’m not one for the proposal on holidays or birthdays but I still wanted the day to be special to Megs, and anyone who knows her knows that there’s one week of the year that’s a bigger holiday for her than almost anything else… and that’s SHARK WEEK. I knew she would be excited to share her special day with all the Great Whites!
Now that I had the day and place, all I needed to do was gather up her friends and family to see if they could make it there, and here is where I learned why Megs is the one who plans things, not me. Turns out getting that many people all there at the same time on the same day was not as easy as I thought. But after a few thousand facebook messages and a lot of help from all her friends and family, when the first day of Shark Week came around everyone was on the way.
I decorated a cute spot in my backyard to propose, my dad had enough food prepared to feed a small army, and everyone had cameras ready… Megan’s sister was even ready to hide in the trees to jump out to get picutres! Everyone was coming when I figured out the on thing I forgot to do… I had no plans to keep Megs out of the house until it was all ready! She still had no idea of the whole surprise and all she wanted to do was go and watch shark week.
So I had to start stalling to keep her out of the house until we were ready, I drove really slow while we went to the grocery store, and I even volunteered to go shopping! She was pretty surprised about that and I thought I had blown it right there. But turns out she still didnt know, and was even getting a bit grumpy because I was keeping her away from Shark Week. But the time finally came where everything was ready and we could go back.
When we got to the house I thought for sure she was on to me but still she seemed not to know! So I told her I wanted to show her some lights in my back yard and had to almost drag her back there because she wasnt quite happy about not being able to watch Shark Week, but finally I got her under the lights in the place I had decorated for it. She still had no idea!
While our family and friends stood quiet on the deck above and her sister hid in the trees, I looked right at her and smiled what I assume was a really big goofy smile. As I went to one knee and pulled out the ring she looked up and saw everyone looking down at her and when she looked back the ring was there, and I simply said “Megan, Will you marry me?” In my head I had a whole speech prepared telling her how much I loved her and how I wanted to be with her forever, but in that moment all I wanted to hear was her answer.
Of course you know now she said YES!
I think its safe to say that Shark Week may be my new favorite week of the year!”
