The first time I ever spoke with Jill and Sam, they shared with me that they have a cat named Henry! I knew in that moment that I had to be apart of their wedding! Couples who are just as obsessed with their cats as I am of mine are my kind of people! 😉 Needless to say, we talked about our cats at their engagement session and had the best time catching up!!

Jill and Sam are in medical school with one more year to go. They were in the area taking some of their board exams, and I’m so glad we were able to squeeze in their engagement session while they were in town! Their engagement session took place at Peace Valley Park.

All week, I had been watching the weather like a hawk because we’ve been having crazy, rainy weather on the east coast! Jill and Sam were so flexible and willing to do what we needed to in order to miss the rain! We had GORGEOUS weather and NO RAIN, as well! Woohoo!

Jill and Sam are THE sweetest together! They met after their first semester of medical school three years ago, and I absolutely love how they met! Keep reading!

Jill and Sam both came back to med school a few days early from their winter break. Jill came back early because she was coaching a youth basketball team at the time and she had a game that weekend. Her other friend, Louis, was the coach of another one of the teams so he was back at school early, as well. Sam and Louis were friends, so naturally Jill wound up going to hang out with him and their friends.

Turns out, Sam was also there! The four of them ended up going out for dinner and drinks that night. Sam was Jill’s pool and darts partner and that’s how they first started talking to each other! From then on, they were inseparable and started dating! Their first date was to Cabo Fish Taco (a restaurant in Blacksburg, VA where they go to medical school).

Then came the engagement in 2018! Jill knew Sam was going to propose soon, it was just a matter of when and where. This past year, Jill and Sam spent Christmas with their families separately. Sam was in D.C. and Jill was in the Philadelphia area.

A couple days before Christmas, Jill had just gotten off the phone with Sam saying he was back home at REI store looking for a last minute Christmas gift for his sister. Jill was still in her hometown watching tv. Next thing she knows Sam is at the front door (with their cat Henry – he drove with Henry all the way from North Carolina!!), asking her to marry him! He wasn’t at REI after all, he was on his way up to Philly to propose!! So sweet!!

I had the most amazing time with Jill and Sam! We laughed a bunch and I cannot get over how sweet they are together! I’m so excited for their wedding at Aldie Mansion next year!!
