I was absolutely SO excited for Tyla and Chris’ engagement session! I have known Tyla for over two years now, and I was looking forward to spending time with her and Chris at the same time!
Engagement sessions are always so important to me because it allows me to get to know my clients EVEN MORE before the wedding day arrives!
Their hometown engagement session in Conshohocken, PA was the best! This town holds years of memories and love between the two of them! They both grew up on the opposite site of the bridge that connects W. Conshy and Conshy. How sweet?!?! I am familiar with Conshy myself, but they showed me spots around town that meant so much to them! I even learned a little historical fact that Conshohocken is an Indian word meaning “pleasant valley” – who knew?!? Obviously not me…they were basically my tour guides for the afternoon! 🙂 Chris even took us to the spot where he FIRST saw Tyla in 2002 – talk about love at first site!! From the swim club where Chris first saw Tyla years ago to the gorgeous cherry blossoms (I was on the hunt for those – ask Tyla!) around town, they couldn’t have picked a more perfect location for their engagement session – it even took place during golden hour! My absolute favorite! 🙂
The Proposal
Tyla’s sister, Tori, invited her to come over to her house for some pumpkin painting on the Friday before Halloween. This is a normal activity for the family prior to Halloween, so there was nothing suspicious about it. The plan was to do some pumpkin painting, then head out on the town with all the sisters. The week before, Tyla’s mom, Tara, and Tyla were discussing the plans in front of Chris. He played it off as if he had no idea, saying Tyla never let him know (she assumed he would be at the firehouse like he was every Friday), so she invited him to come.
Both Chris and Tyla arrived at Tori’s to see her entire family. Pumpkin painting was always a family tradition for Tyla’s nieces and nephews, but she did find it slightly strange to see here Dad, Jay, there as well. He was making a feast that night, serving up some amazing food as usual! The kids’ finished painting their pumpkins, and the family began to take pictures. Tyla didn’t even notice Tara – her other sister – sneak away to grab some extra special pumpkins from outside. Then the BEST part happened!! It was the perfect scene, the kids moved to the side and Tara came in with a lit pumpkin that had “Marry Me?” carved into it. Tyla turned to see Chris on one knee asking her to be his wife!!! She couldn’t speak and literally needed to be prompted to answer (I heard that Chris was on his knee for a while:)). With an absolute “yes”, Chris and Tyla promised each other their lives. Lots of crying, cheers, and toasts commenced – it was the PERFECT night filled with love and family!!!
Tyla and Chris, I’m so happy for you two and I’m beyond excited to be joining you on this journey! I absolutely cannot wait for your wedding day to arrive!
xoxo
