You know those people who immediately make you feel like family and welcome you in as if they’ve known you for years? That is completely how Lindsey and Jim made me feel from the moment I had arrived at their home!
I had been looking forward to meeting these two for SO LONG! Even before their session, I knew that Lindsey and I had a very similar personality – we just clicked!
Their session was taking place around center city, and they offered to drive us around! I promise – I do venture out into the city here and there, but these two are pros at navigating the city – I was BEYOND grateful that they offered to drive us around!
As we were planning for their session, Lindsey and Jim shared with me that they definitely wanted to take the iconic City Hall photo, and I was ALL IN! I don’t shoot in the city often, so when I do I know that it will be refreshing because it’s a NEW place for me! I was super excited to photograph at City Hall – it was my FIRST time doing so, and I loved the scenery and rush of it all – Lindsey and Jim were so patient as I had them wait for more traffic to come by in between photos as well! We walked out onto the median and we were in the heart of the city! So cool!
These two were naturals throughout the entire session! All I had to say was: “Where is that Lindsey laugh” and the most joyous smile was made on both of their faces! The joy that these two share is so contagious!
From there, we went back to their home to pick up their adorable English Bulldog, Oliver!! This cat-lady even loved him – that’s how sweet he is! 🙂 From there, we went on our way to the Art Museum! By this time, we had about 45 minutes of sunshine left – it was cold (again in April – what is up with this weather?!), but we cranked out the poses and photos super fast!
By the time the session had ended, I didn’t want it to end, and I couldn’t believe that the next time I’d see these two in person will be at their wedding this fall!
How They Met
Lindsey: “We met online – on plenty of fish!! I actually messaged Jim – his response was that he was leaving for a trip and would be gone for about a week. Being the girl that I am I thought that was his way of saying thanks but no thanks haha. I assumed I would never hear from him again. Well, when he got back from his trip – he sent me a messaged and asked me to dinner. We spent about 4 hours having dinner at the Belgium Cafe in Fairmount during a snowstorm haha. All of a sudden the restaurant started clearing out and I looked down and realized it was so late and I had to work in the morning! We were so engrossed in conversations about traveling and life while laughing and truly enjoying each other that we completely lost track of time!! I let him drive me home (it was dark and snowing haha). He walked me to my door and asked for another date – purple snow boots and all :)”
Jim: “We met on an online dating website called Plenty of Fish. When Lindsey messaged me, I was away for about a week or so in Vermont with friends. I’m sure she thought I was lying though. Once I came back to NJ I immediately messaged her back, asking to go out one night. We went to Belgium Cafe in Philadelphia and talked for hours about traveling and all of our other many interests. I couldn’t get enough and wanted to see her more and more. Fast-forward to where I was driving to Philadelphia every other night and basically living together, I decided to move in.”
Lindsey: “IT WAS AMAZING!!!! It was a Saturday afternoon and we had gone to brunch and then taken Oliver for a long walk around the neighborhood and I was exhausted. We got home and I wanted to take a quick power nap – Jim said ok sure then lets go to the park later with Oliver since its so nice out. I agreed – welllllll 330 rolled around and I wanted no part of leaving the couch haha. He proceeded to tell me that Oliver would love it and we should go – I said ehhh let’s go tomorrow. According to Jim it was going to be cloudy on Sunday (why Oliver cared about this I could not figure out). But it seemed like Jim really wanted to get out of the house and Oliver loves the park soooo off to the park we went – on the drive I suggested the Horticultural Center – thats our favorite! He agreed and we arrived – there was a wedding going on – they were taking their photos in the empty fountain. So Oliver and I were running around chasing the ball and Jim kept texting. I asked him who he was talking to and he responded it was his SIM partner (simulation partner for the airplane) which I was like uhhhh why not just use his name – I know who he is and just started laughing and ran off. He came after us, grabbed the ball and threw it down a few steps into a rock area with a statue – I proceeded to ask him what the heck he was doing haha (all the while I am laughing at him being so weird but having zero clue – I guess that’s how you know I REALLY love him haha). I went down to pick up the ball and then turned back around and he was down on one knee!!! HOLY SMOKES!!! I did NOT expect this at all!!! Then to find out one of my best friends was there the whole time – hiding behind trees trying to not be seen while capture the entire encounter – it was a day I will truly never forget!!”
