From my first phone call with Orlene, I felt like we instantly connected! I would say we both share in having a bubbly and outgoing personality, so you can imagine that our first phone call lasted for over an hour! We also learned that we only live about 10 minutes from each other! So cool! Orlene also shared with me that her and Jon’s love story began nine years ago when they were both in high school! Isn’t that the sweetest!?! So…it was only fitting that their session take place at the very high school Orlene attended: Nazareth Academy! Their wedding ceremony will be taking place here, too! Jon attended Holy Ghost, which is only a few minutes down the road, and they took me to the exact spot at Jon’s Alma Mater where he asked Orlene to be his girlfriend! AH! You might be wondering how they met since they attended separate schools, but thank goodness for mutual friends! You’ll just have to read the whole story below! 🙂
Remember the snow storm we got earlier this week? Well, that was the same day of their session! We COULD NOT believe that it was April and snowing! Regardless, these two were up for anything, and their session was going to happen no matter what! Thankfully, the snow did stop and melted before we started! Woohoo! Bloom Flower Co. provided the beautiful bouquet, as well! We had no idea if we were going to be walking into a winter wonderland when we arrived at Nazareth, so this spring bouquet added such a warm, spring feel to the photos! Doesn’t it match their outfits perfectly?! That actually wasn’t planned at all! I was determined to do whatever I could to make sure their session looked like spring and not like it had just snowed earlier that morning! 🙂
Following our time at Nazareth, we finished their session at Glen Foerd on the Delaware! I had never been to this venue before, so I was super excited! The buds on the trees and flowers were just starting to bloom, and the sun decided to shine, as well! This session is by far one of my favorites, and it was really hard to narrow down which photos to include in the blog!
I absolutely loved every moment with Orlene and Jon! These two are getting married this fall, and I’m so excited!!
P.S. If you scroll all the way down to the bottom of the post, you’ll see the photo that we took in the exact spot where Jon asked Orlene to be his girlfriend!
As Told By Orlene
How They Met
“We had known each other for a while before we started dating. In high school we had similar friends and were in similar after school groups. We saw each other occasionally when all our friends got together but nothing romantic. Not until the summer before our junior year of high school. That summer our friends were planning a ton of outings and we started to talk more, especially over IM. We’d talk everyday for hours discussing everything under the sun. Eventually it came to the beginning of junior year and every one of our friends were completely shocked by what had started brewing under their noses. We had already agreed to be each others dates for the fall events and tip toed around taking the relationship further. So one day after school we were with friends just “hanging out” when our friends very obviously left us alone for Jonathan to ask me out. Now almost nine years later we’re making our relationship a little more permanent <3″
“Our anniversary is in late September and Jon had said that we’d be going up to the Poconos but my present was a spa day while we were away. A few days later he said that he had included a mani-pedi with my friend Liz while we’d be away, as our two friends would also be joining us. As the trip got closer I had the thought that maybe… just MAYBE he could ask me. But in my mind there was no way it was just a nice relaxing trip. Right before we were going to leave he said that we could take nice fall pictures after the spa trip. This made me think again that proposal could be a possibility but in my mind I said no there was NO WAY because our friends had recently gotten engaged and we were with our friends on a relaxing couple trip. The weekend trip finally arrived and we had a relaxing first night just grabbing supplies and having dinner. Then the next day the boys decided they’d do some early morning fishing while the ladies slept late. Our spa session was in the early afternoon. We got massages and our nails done. So when we returned the boys were ready and we got dressed. After we were all set we headed out to Lake Naomi. I had my DSLR camera and started taking their couple pictures first. Then after we got a good set we switched. Liz was taking the pictures and in the middle Jonathan turned me around to look at the view, we were talking and he was reminding me about how beautiful it was up here and why he loves it up here and all of a sudden he spun around and landed down on one knee with the ring box in his hand. And I’m not sure what he said after that because I was mostly crying and shocked. I was only able to make out the words of him asking me to marry him. The word “yes” wasn’t even able to come out so I resorted to nodding my “yes.” I could not believe it at all because I had convinced myself with tons of reasons why it wouldn’t happen now. It didn’t really matter because this moment was the only thing I had wanted for the last few years. It felt like a dream and I cannot wait for our wedding this fall <3″
