Laura and Matt are officially married! Well, they’ve actually been married since May – but now they’ve had their celebration too! These two are seriously some of the sweetest and most joyful people you’ll ever meet! I feel so lucky I was able to be a part of their intimate Cape Henlopen Beach wedding and their Rehoboth Beach reception, too!
After meeting up on a blind date (following two failed attempts), Laura and Matt pretty much fell head-over-heels for each other upon their first look! They had a fun first date at a bowling alley and as Laura said, their meeting felt like a divine intervention. About a year and a half after they started dating, Matt proposed on a beach in Newport, RI. He had planned the trip and proposal around a gorgeous park they loved where they could see the stars – but everything did not go according to plan! A storm rolled in, some obnoxious kids blared music rolling by, and he was just about to give up. But he proposed anyway and Laura said yes! They were both so happy to be engaged!
The Ceremony
The two chose to plan an intimate wedding at Cape Henlopen in May. Planning a small day with just family allowed them to focus on what their day really meant. I know these two enjoyed every second! Matt was excited to see Laura in her wedding gown. Laura was thrilled to be solidifying their relationship and love in a very concrete way! Having a beach wedding meant they were able to focus on each other and the nature around them. They were married at Cape Henlopen, which is where they took their first trip to (and now have a family condo there, too!).
Their day was full of bright colors, bohemian inspiration, and love!! I had a great time photographing this beautiful couple on the beach and pier. We even snuck in some tennis photos since they love playing tennis together! Because they chose to do their celebration in two parts, we had the chance for TONS of portraits. So, you know I was thrilled about that!!
The Reception
This past weekend, they celebrated their union with an intimate reception at Restaurante Salero in Rehoboth, Delaware. They invited less than 100 guests and celebrated the fact that they are married! I love that they chose to have both their wedding and reception on the beaches of Delaware, since they’re so important to their relationship. Wedding days are always beautiful but they’re even more meaningful when they are at locations like that! Laura and Matt are seriously the sweetest and most thoughtful couple – on their wedding day, they even invited my husband so he could be there with me at their celebration!!
Their reception was beautiful – full of gold details that added to the boho feel of the pinks and greens in the room. They also had the cutest little candy bar! We all celebrated above the beach – it was amazing to see all of the little umbrellas from high up!
Laura and Matt, I can’t express enough how much I loved being a part of your wedding celebrations! Thank you for asking me to document such an important time in your lives!
