It’s so hard for me to put Anna and James’ wedding day into words because it was full of so many sweet moments! Anna had posted something on social media, reflecting on their wedding day and I think that she summed up the day best with one word: love. Their was so much love in the air on their wedding day! Love that was felt by their family and friends who celebrated the start of their marriage! Every second was full of genuine moments and emotion (hence why there are almost 300 images in this blog post! My longest one yet!!) All day I was either tearing up (happy tears, of course!) from the emotional toasts or from the incredible relationship Anna has with her brother, or laughing/smiling from the JOY that filled the day! It was just the BEST day ever, and I’m so excited to share their wedding day with you all!
Their wedding took place at the beautiful Woolverton Inn in Stockton, NJ! All of their wedding day festivities took place at the Inn – it’s a gorgeous venue and every photographer’s dream! With the corn fields, barns and sheep, I couldn’t wait to capture their special day at this venue!!
Anna and James thought this would be the perfect place to join their families on their wedding day since the venue was right along the Delaware River! Anna grew up in PA and James in NJ, so it was the perfect spot to start their journey as husband and wife!!
Even though their roots are on the east coast, the two of them actually live in LA! I had met Anna a few months ago when she was in town finishing up some wedding planning, but I had never met James in person before the wedding day! I totally wish these two lived so much closer, so that we could hang out more – I’m really going to miss these two so much!
Since I haven’t been able to introduce Anna and James to you all, here on the blog yet, I wanted to include their love story below! It’s a good one friends!!
How They Met
“We met through a guy that James had recently met playing basketball who was one of my friends. My friend invited my roommate (Becca – one of my bridesmaids) and I to Hermosa to hang out for the night and we were both feeling lazy and didn’t want to go. I finally decided I needed to stop watching new girl and get out of my bed and we headed to Hermosa beach. We arrived at James’ house and James’ roommate answered the door (Jamie- James’ groomsman) answered the door. Out of the corner of my eye I saw a snowboard and asked him if he was a snowboarder (as am I) and he said no it’s my roommates. With that, James came down the stairs wearing a white button down t-shirt with his tattoos showing and I was instantly in love!!! hahaha We all hung out that weekend and exchanged numbers and I told Jamie to put a good word in for me and that I thought James was super HOT! Jamie instantly texted James while we were all hanging out. We had an awesome weekend and James continued to text me all week asking little things like how my day was going and how he couldn’t wait to hang out again. We hung out the following weekend and all partied and it felt like the time of our lives. The following week he asked me on the classic dinner and movie date. I was so nervous that I chugged two beers before I left the house and then we were both so nervous on our way that we decided to skip dinner and just get drinks and head to the movies we talked for 2 hours straight and I swore I was in heaven. A few weeks after that his friends from college came to visit and I instantly became best friends with them. He told me later on that that sealed the deal!! A week after that he asked me to be his girlfriend and I screamed and did a happy dance with my friend. A week after that, I had to get my tonsils out and was miserable. I came home from the hospital to a huge bouquet of orange roses with a get well note at my door! The next day he came over and cuddled with me while I slept and probably drooled from all the pain killers hahaha Then 2 weeks after that, I went to Maine for a family vacation and we talked everyday. When I got back, we drove to San Francisco and took our first trip together. We went to Outside Lands and while Death Cab for Cutie was playing, James looked down at me and said “I think I’m going to fall in love with you at a death cab for cutie concert” and we both giggled and kept listening to the music. A week or so after that we were out one night and James kept looking at me weird. I was like what is going on why are you grinning at me?! and he said I might be falling in love with you! and I said “then say it!” and he said “I LOVE YOU!” we both squealed like little girls and I said I love you too!!!! then of course then rest is history!!!”
“The proposal was amazing! I had a feeling it was coming because we had looked at rings and had this trip planned but I kept trying to force it out of my head so I wasn’t over thinking it. I left for New Hampshire with my family for a week and then we picked up James at the airport a week later to head to Maine. I’ve been going to a house on Mt. Desert Island every other year since I was a kid. This past year I decided to treat everyone to a week at the house. James knew that it is my favorite place in the whole world. We arrived at the house and explored the first day. The house is perched right on the rocks overlooking the crystal clear cold Maine ocean. Behind the house are deep woods with balsam fir trees and the mixture of the smells is truly intoxicating. It’s heaven on earth. That evening, I wanted to go to the local lobster pound but everyone was being lazy. I was getting frustrated that no one wanted to go. James finally said, let’s just go take some photos and get your mind off of dinner! hahaha I reluctantly agreed and we walked out to the rocks overlooking the ocean. My parents were watching from the deck and I was like what are you guys doing why are you being weird!! Then I turned and faced the ocean and James started taking a few photos. Then I heard him throw his camera to the side, I was like WHAT IS GOING ON! then I turned around and he was down on one knee shaking like a leaf!! he said” ummmmm uhhhh I love you and uhhhh” and I was like OMG and cried of course and everyone started cheering including the neighbors that had been watching from down the beach. He stood up and we kissed and hugged and I said wait aren’t you going to ask me?! and he said OH YEAH! will you marry me! and he put the ring on and then we all cried and cheered and we were both shaking so bad we could barely stand!! With that the neighbors yelled over and shot off a huge fire cracker!! We took photos and celebrated and James made homemade Bolognese that night and we played scrabble and watched the lobster boats go by. The next morning we go up early and watched the sun rise over the ocean. I could have died happy. It was amazing and coming back to LA after that week was torture. I literally could have spent my whole life sitting there that week with the love that I felt with the people I love the most!”
OH.MY.GOODNESS! I think this is when I lost it! Anna’s parents walked her down the aisle, and when I looked at James he was tearing up so much seeing his bride! It was such a sweet moment, and I couldn’t contain myself! The two of them wrote the sweetest vows to one another, you could just tell that they COULD NOT wait to finally be husband and wife!
I have to start out by saying they have the most thoughtful family and friends! So many people spoke at their reception about the unique and rare love that Anna and James share! Anna’s brother, Evan, even sang and played a song on the guitar, AND James’ grandfather sang a song to them, as well! Over and over again, I was blown away by the connection these two share with their family and friends!
The rest of the night was spent with tons of hugs, dancing (they are incredible dancers) and soaking in day!
Anna and James! Thank you so much for allowing me to be apart of your special day! Seriously, I cannot thank you two enough for being so amazing and making me feel like part of the family! Anna – I totally agree with what you said at the end of the night that I feel like we’ve known each other our entire lives, even though we’ve actually on seen each other twice in person!! I’m so looking forward to the next time you both visit the east coast!! I hope you’re enjoying every moment of your mini-moon as your drive cross country to LA!! 🙂 I’m beyond happy for you and excited for this next chapter in your lives!!
Anna gifted James with a watch on the wedding day!!
The champagne bottle popped WAY sooner than we all thought and made everyone jump!
When Anna and her mom, Nancy, were getting ready it was the sweetest moment! The necklace that is in Nancy’s hand below was made from her brother’s ring who passed away. This was a detail Anna cherished so much on her wedding day!
Anna’s brother, Evan, was her man-of-honor! They are literally best friends and have the sweetest relationship!!
Anna’s aunt designed all of the florals for their wedding day! I think she should start her own floral business, don’t you?!
This crew! Anna and James have the sweetest family and friends!!

The cookies below have a great significance! The pink and green cookies were made by James’ Grandma and are an Italian Venetian cookie! The shortbread was made by Anna’s mom, Nancy, and are Scottish to represent the joining of the families!!
