It might have rained (not sprinkled, but downpoured) at Kirk and Kristine’s wedding last weekend, BUT that didn’t stop the two of them from having the most beautiful day! Their wedding took place at Moonstone Manor in Elizabethtown, PA, and I was super excited to photograph at this venue! This month my couples have been taking me all over, and I have loved every moment of shooting in new places!
Kirk and Kristine aren’t originally from Lancaster County – they actually live over two hours away from their venue – but fell absolutely in love with Moonstone Manor! I can see why! Moonstone is absolutely GORGEOUS (I suggest you Google it right now!)! From the historic mansion to the beautiful grounds covered in gardens, this place was a DREAM! The theme of their wedding was antique with a little bit of rustic, and they absolutely pulled it off! Also, the way that these two love their family and friends is truly incredible! They wanted everyone to feel welcomed and enjoy themselves – and I’d say they most certainly went above and beyond!
As I mentioned above, it rained all day – the rain didn’t seem to quit – but Kirk and Kristine never once brought it up during our conversations day-of or the week leading up to the big day! No matter what, they were more focused on marrying one another, and rain wasn’t going to take away their JOY!
The day started off with the two of them getting ready with their bridesmaids and groomsmen! Kristine’s details were GORGEOUS, and right before her first look she opened up a gift from Kirk! Guess what he surprised her with?! A boarding pass to their honeymoon in Punta Cana! He planned the entire trip, and they are there right now as we speak! 🙂
First Look
Since it had been raining outside so much we opted to have their first look inside! Moonstone Manor has so many beautiful rooms! Oh my goodness – their first look was so sweet! Kirk had such a huge smile on his face when he saw Kristine for the first time! It was emotional for sure! AH! I love first looks so much!
Following their first look we went right into their portraits! I was so grateful that the venue had a large porch area, so we could still take photos outside regardless of the rain! Kirk and Kristine were so patient and gracious as we had to adjust to the rain by moving around furniture and moving locations (as the rain started to come in sideways)! Like I said, they are the sweetest!
Throughout their portraits it was so great seeing them interact with one another, especially as they knew there were going to be married very soon! Also, it doesn’t take much to make Kristine laugh, and that was evident the entire time! I think it’s because she was marrying the love of her life!
Ceremony
Their ceremony was equally as emotional – maybe even more! Kristine’s father walked her down the aisle, and he was so proud and happy that his daughter found the love of her life! As Kirk watched Kristine walk down the aisle I think this was when he truly realized that he was going to be marrying his best friend! The two of them wrote their own vows, and it was so beautiful! In Kristine’s vows she said something that I thought was so profound: they have known each other since their freshmen year of high school, and no matter where life took them over the years, they always ended up finding their way back to one another! They are truly meant to be!
Reception
Kirk and Kristine’s reception started off with such a fun grand entrance! Their entire wedding party was dancing, and it was most definitely time to party! This is how their reception started off, so I knew it was going be such a fun time – it was one of the most fun receptions I’ve been too!
Their first dance and parents dances were so sweet – and emotional! Especially when Kristine was dancing with her father! The dancing was non-stop and I don’t think there was a moment when their family and friends weren’t on the dance floor!
Kirk and Kristine, I’m so happy for you both and your wedding day is one I’ll never forget! You are one of the most selfless and thoughtful couples I know! It has been an absolute honor getting to know you both more, and I cannot wait to see what this next chapter has in store for the both of you! I hope you’re having so much fun in Punta Cana!!
